Plus you add in those stupid Red light speeding cameras on Dorr at University Hills. Still haven't paid that ticket and the city will never see that money.

Has anyone contemplated what will happen when Cerberus pulls Chrysler's manufacturing out of the US, and there are no longer Jeeps made in Toledo?
Anyone? Anyone?? Bueller?

Are you saying you are leaving Toledo?! The greatest city on EARTH?! You won't see the bridge completed, and worst of all, you will no longer be able to go to the world-famous Chuckie Cheese, or shop at the latest discount store at the Westfield. Just pay the ticket, and be a good citizen.

He's thinking that he has a nice new marina all to himself. Who in Toledo can afford a boat? All 5 people?

Responding to M TYPE X's comments about JEEP:

Elaborate on this some more, if you could ? What are you hearing ? Is this IDEA, even a remote possibility ?

Are there any stories in the media or blogs out there, that speculate what this might mean for Toledo Jeep ?

I already know what a total DISASTER Toledo would be in right now, if Chrysler had built the Jeep plant somewhere else, a few years ago. Most of those workers would have followed the jobs to wherever. There would have been a glut of homes, sitting on the market. -Not that there isn't already. And Toledo's tax base would have dried up considerably.

The Jeep plant has to be 1 of the newer auto manufacturing plants in the country. I certainly hadn't given much thought to the idea of MAJOR changes (at Toledo Jeep), happening anytime soon.

But I do occassionally think to myself, just because they're making the vehicles here now, doesn't mean they won't pull out in 10 or 15 years. The world economy is changing rapidly. And Cerberus bought Chrysler pretty cheap, relative to what Daimler Benz paid, some years ago. Didn't Daimler buy it for $40 Billion. Then sold it to Cerberus for just $7 Billion. How about a nice rate of return, on that money ?

But then again, maybe a major corporation would be willing to walk away from a brand new facility, if they can take the entire process somewhere else and do it much....much cheaper.

^I think Jeep is one of the few auto divisions that's safe. They put so much damn money into the new plant that it just wouldn't make sense to move for at least another 20 or 30 years (hopefully by then, Toledo and Detroit will have the metro rail systems going).

Also, Jeep sales are strong. They're doing better than most American auto divisions. I'd be more worried about the GM drivetrain plant in North Toledo (largest of its kind on earth). Sure, they're putting a lot of money into the thing, but it's a gamble. Ford? Well, we already know what's happening in Maumee...

Monroe could get screwed too.

This past year, we have gone to the art musuem several times for different exhibits, the zoo, the glass pavilion, botanical gardens, up to detroit to the casinos, maumee bay beach, levis commons shopping many times, westfield shopping, to the valentine theatre, comedy club, ethnic festivals, golfing, Pearson Park, DC Ranch, Wildwood Park, the Mud Hens games, to Cedar Point, fishing, Ottawa Park (ice skating), and alot more I'm not thinking of. There are also alot of places for children to enjoy themselves, Chuckie Cheese, Major Magics, Discovery Zone, Cosi, and the downtown library has acitvities for children every week.
As in any city, if you want something to do you have to get off of the couch and find things to do. You can do just about anything in Toledo, and inexpensively. We go out to eat once every week. There are so many restaurants in and around Toledo that we could keep up the same rate and never eat out at the same place twice. We went to the Outback last night, but El Camino is a family owned Mexican restaurants with great margaritas and delicious food (Douglas & Sylvania, and on Woodville Rd. in Oregon). There are bars for the younger 20's crowd near the university and bars for the 30's crowd on Sylvania Ave (club soda, six pack). There are dance clubs downtown (Eclipse and Emporium) with a mostly younger crowd. The restaurants at the docks on the east side of the river are a good place to eat, drink, and have a good time (although the MLK bridge is under construction right now and it makes it a little harder to get there).
If you prefer the country club crowd there is The Toledo Club, many Yacht Club, the Shriners, Brandywine Country Club, and many others around Toledo. There are Seniors center in and around Toledo and the libraries host events all of the time (easter egg hunts, crafts, book readings, etc.). In the summer, the kids can jon the summer reading club and earn prizes for reading books. There is a boys scout camp near toledo and Camp Libbey Girl Scout Camp within driving distance of Toledo (I went there for two weeks every summer when I was a kid). The YMCAs host splash (free swimming lesson) for kids every summer, and Y memberships will get you discounted rates on all sorts of great classes and activities for the family and yourself (yoga, kickboxing, kids slumber parties, family fun nights).
For those who love to shop (like myself) there are lots of places to blow your money efficiently. I like to shop at Westfield Mall which was recently renovated and has tons of new stores, Levis Commons in Perrysburg (Anne Taylor, Bombay, Books-a-Million), and a new mall is being built in Maumee. Of course if your really looking to blow your wad, the malls in Detroit are just 45 min. up I-75, where you can shop your heart out and find anything you really didn't need.
I think my favorite thing about Toledo is the ethnic diversity and festivals. In the summer we hit-up every ethnic festival possible and get great food and imported goods for the house, art, jewelry, etc. The Hungarian Festival, German-American Festival, Latino, and Polish-American Festivals are favorites. There are also Irish-American and African-American festivals by the river in late summer/early fall. If you want to drive a little out of the city there is an AppleButter Festival with all sorts of good food and crafts and a Strawberry festival. Also, the Lucas County Fair is always a good time. The Lucas County rec center hosts art exhibitors in craft shows periodocally throughout the year. Shipshawana is an Amish town not far from Toledo that is fun for a day of shopping. Also, staying on the lake at MarbleHead there is a beach, shopping, fishing, and park not far from Toledo. Sandusky also has a new water park. Cincinnatti, Columbus, Detroit, Ann Arbor and Cleveland are all within reasonable day (45min - 2hrs) driving distance and have endless numbers of things to do and places to visit.
Fantastic! (click you a positive!)

It sounds I would have to come visit Toledo OH sometime in the future ...

The Wrangler is selling, but all the other Jeep models are in sales decline.

Yes, it is true that Toledo is located such that you can enjoy Ann Arbor, Cleveland, and Detroit. I still wouldn't live there, even in Sylvania.

Angry Not to do in Toledo

You sure got that right! Toledo night life consists most of two things going to bars or going out to eat. Gee no wonder we have so many fat people here! I've lived here for over 50 years and except for the occasional festival which is more eating I really haven't seen anything here worth wild doing. If it wasn't for my elderly parents still being a live I would have packed up and got out of here a long time ago! Toledo doesn't need gravity because it sucks here so hard that you would get stuck anyway and don't get me started on Mayor Carty aka the Mad Hatter, the guy is totally insane. He yells and pokes at a man that had a heart condition, Yells and screams at a very fine police chief and nearly brings things to a bare knuckles brawl with the guy who by the way was in special forces and could have killed Carty in a heart beat, next he starts a fight with a woman that was a city worker and he may or may not have a case against him in court over that? Carty has the city workers paint the fire hydrants green with white tops instead of leaving them yellow or red, well the fire dept can't hardly find the in the summer because the green paint blends with all the other green stuff in the summer and in the winter the white tops can't be found because they match the snow. We had a contract to buy new police cars and in the contract it sated that we had to purchase the vehicle by a certain date or pay the company extra money for being late. Well gee Carty let the deadline go by and we had to pay i think it was $80,000.00 ? for the same vehicles. Speaking of that it was reported that the police cars are now in such bad shape that it's costing us thousands more in repairs to these rolling junks then to buy new ones. Well Carty has been dragging his feet and they haven't been replaced. The current police chief has to pull double duty as fire chief because of the city's budget crunch which is mostly being caused by Carty's sending money like a drunken sailor on shore leave on things we really don't need like our over priced and extra fancy bridge, tearing down our still very useful sport area and dumping millions of dollars into what he calls the river front project which is a major waste of tax payers money. I heard of the mayor's plans on putting little tables up along the Martian Luther Bridge and laughed my butt off! The Maumee River that flows under that bridge isn't exactly pretty as a matter of a fact it's down right nasty looking and I just couldn't see why anyone would want to see that dirty old water while eating? The last time I was in that area there was guys getting drunk while fishing and taking a pee into the river in front of God and everyone! Maybe that's the entertainment your suppose to enjoy while your eating you lunch while sitting at your nice little table on the bridge? There is so much more wrong with this town right now that I could list but I'm getting tired. In closing I would just like to say it's too bad that the recall to remove Carty failed because this town would be much better without him!

Not really, he pretty much spoke the truth. Although digging up threads from two years ago is bad form.
