Tornado season is always spring and fall. I've gotten tornado watches here in my area in early November before. Still prefer it over an unannounced, potentially devastating earthquake Don't know how you people over on the west coast can live with that thought

I slept in an earthquake zone for most of my life. I slept just fine. I even slept through more than one earthquake.

Despite what people imagine, the vast majority of earthquakes are just little rumbles, not like the California segment of 2012.

I agree. I've actually only felt 2 earthquakes in my life. First one was in Puerto Rico (which is near a subduction zone) that one was a 5.0 and that freaked me out a bit. Second one was the east coast earthquake earlier this summer and that was a 5.6. I wasn't freaked out considering my prior experience. But, still, the bad part about earthquakes is that you have little to no prior warning that it's gonna strike. That's what makes earthquakes dangerous, it's practically a sneak attack from behind

But San Francisco could be struck by the 'big one' at any moment.. I'd be on edge every second of my life.

Getting a bit off topic now. Anyways, OP and everyone else, tornado season ALWAYS runs during the spring and fall months, with modifications for the southern states, of course. Cooler and warmer air masses are now mixing together, causing tornadoes to happen. That's why you always see a downturn in tornado activity during winter and summer, since those 2 seasons have only one dominant air temperature during the season, whereas fall and spring have equal chances of cool or warm air.
