Can anyone give me some very good high schools in Toronto? Ones that offer programs needed for a doctor? Or one that has excellent academics?
Thanks.

All of the high schools in Toronto would offer the courses a student would need to become a doctor. If you want to become a doctor, in grades 11 and 12 you would take English, Math (including grade 12 Calculus), Chemistry, and a selection of other courses at the "U -- University Preparation" level. The other courses would probably include Biology and/or Physics. Every high school in the city would offer these courses. Every high school would have great teachers. Students who work hard in any high school should be able to get marks high enough to go to University -- for something.

To become a doctor, after high school you would go to university and do three or four years of an undergraduate degree in ANYTHING that interests you (probably some sort of science program, but it doesn't have to be) and then apply to medical school. Some medical schools require you to take a few chemistry and/or biology and/or humanities courses during your undergraduate degree. No matter what you major in, you can probably take the prerequisite courses as your electives. You can see the requirements at the OUAC website: http://www.ouac.on.ca/docs/omsas/rc_omsas_e.pdf

If you want a high school that has good academics, you might get an indication by looking at the EQAO scores for grade 9 math and grade 10 literacy (OSSLT). If 75% of the students are passing (which means achieving equivalent to a B- or better), you can feel confident that most your classmates at that school would be academically-minded. When you do the undergraduate degree on your path to Med school, make sure it's in something you like, so that it'll be easier for you to excel, and something that can you lead you to a good alternate career if Med school doesn't work out, since it's so hard to get in. This is what the Med schools recommend to everyone seeking admission.
