I've been looking into apartments in Etobicoke as i'm going to attend Humber Lakeshore. Are there any areas I really need to avoid that are overall sketchy? How much can I expect to pay for a single basement apartment or even a room in a basement or apartment? I'm coming from West Virginia so I don't have super high expectations or needs. Just a decent place in a somewhat decent area. I don't need to be close to a lot of fancy stuff, as long as I am within a short drive of Humber's Lakeshore campus.

Thanks for any help!

The college is located in the W6 zone and known as the New Toronto. It's nestled in between Long Branch, Mimico and Alderwood. As a whole, the area is quite safe and the borders are equally safe from what I know. Homes in the area are quite expensive and being closer to the water, you'll see that.

The aforementioned areas have a strong sense of community so they have their little stores and what not. There is also a Toronto Police training facility in the area so there's a modest Police presence too. I'd say anywhere in that zone you're fine and focus more on the proximity to the school as more investors are scooping up homes and renting out students like you.

Good luck!
