The anti-islamaphobia "motion".

https://ccla.org/ccla-responds-questions-m-103/

A well intentioned 'kneejerk' and meaningless piece of fluff motion with perhaps unforeseen far reaching negative consequences.

It was introduced to assuage rising concerns within the "house" that members only should "declare" themselves regarding Islam and it's attracting of prejudice.

A meaningless bit of ill thought out nonsense having no force or effect within law that will serve to polarize opinion in ways that could create more animosity than the stupid motion was intended to forestall.

Natural outsider curiosity. People don't want to KNOW if parliamentarians are xenophobic or not?

I am with you on this one BruSan, we already have Laws on the books that protect people from racism and religious discrimination.

Hopefully our MPs will realize this Motion is redundant at best and harmful at worst. A lot of backlash will come if "Islamophobia" is not dropped from the motion...almost no one wants any single religion to be singled out as worthy of more protection than any other religion.

In Canada we don't have xenophobes like in your country, in Canada we do not have this phenomenon, I do not know who has told you we have it.

Well, I know how superior Canadians feel. With some basis. However, to say "we do not have xenophobes" is reaching. I'm willing to bet you do. They probably don't mass publicly to hold orgies.

I never heard if it. I dont think we need laws protecting one group..... as all groups are already suppose to be protected.
