Last night after leaving an amazing sold Sharika concert I left the venue to realize I was stuck in a huge crowd of people. At first I was wondering why so many people were scared to get wet. It was raining hard and heavy. Then I look down and realized that the water was collecting in the street and getting pretty high fast. It certainly was no monsoon or epic flood, but it was very concerning to see how much water was pooled everywhere causing many areas of Union Station to be blocked off for safety. Also several subway entrances in the downtown core were blocked off and they had started to pool water too. I was actually pretty nervous about taking the GO train after a few years back on of the trains got stuck in high water for hours after a flash flood type situation. I ended up walking to Dundas just to get out of the area and getting the train from there.

Anyone else notice this problem in the down town core in the past? I assumed as the street slopes towards the lake this would be less of a problem but apparently not !

Heavy rains flood downtown Toronto

I was watching the Blue Jays game on TV. The game ended, and they went to the post game show, hosted by a couple of sportscasters in Rogers Centre. The show started, and the stadium behind them went dark. The sportscasters remarked on how they stiil had power--then the screen flickered, went dark, came back, then went dark again. Then we went back to a studio somewhere, where the host told us viewers that power had failed in Rogers Centre, and the post-game show was cancelled.

My morning news today had plenty of photos and news film showing Toronto under water. Mostly in the downtown core, but not always.

I experienced many summer storms in the years that I lived in Toronto. Only a couple lived up to the severity and the aftermath that I saw in this one. Cars flooded up to their windows on the underpasses near Union Station? I can only recall that on the news just a few times.

I was living a concert at the ACC/ now call Scotia Arena right there.
The streets were flooded and the water from the streets were raising.
It was pretty bad.
Mine you no one was drowning in it.
At first I was like people it is raining hard ... but it is water not acid more faster. Then I looked down and understood the confusing.
Then I saw the pictures of the water gushing in from something in the venue.

I had a floor level ticket so I did not notice anything until after leaving the venue.
I had no issue with walking in the rain and getting wet.... I do I am issue with getting splashed with dirty water once it touched the ground.

On a positive note at least that area got a well need wash down !
