Hi,

I'm going to be visiting Toronto next September and I'm looking for a cheap hotel in the city centre where it is close to amenities & good travel access (i.e. Subway stops etc).

Can anyone recommend any decent but cheap hotels in the heart of it all? I'm looking to spend approximately $79 - $130 per night (£50 - £70 GBP).

Any help would be much appreciated?

Thanks

Stacey

There are a number of hotels which may fit your price range in the downtown core.

One that immediately pops to mind is the Bond Place Hotel. The rooms are not huge, but it's been quiet and clean the couple of times I've used it. It's just off the Yonge Street at Dundas, and only steps from subway and the Eaton Center.

The Strathcona Hotel

Set right in the heart of the financial district. Only about a two minute walk (max) to Union Station.

It's undergone a major renovation and looks night and day versus what it was before. It was a pretty bare bones kind of place prior to the reno and it didn't have the greatest repuatation, but the reno has really brought it to life and you'd be hard pressed to find a better value considering the ideal location. You'd pay double to stay next door at the Royal York and although it would be nice, it wouldn't be worth the extra cost.

The other poster mentioned The Bond Place Hotel. That's other relatively inexpensive hotel that's just steps from the core of downtown Toronto, but it's kind of on the fringe (if you were to go further east) of a somewhat sketchy part of downtown Toronto and I don't think the rooms are as updated as the Strathcona.

Hope this helps!
