So if I'm looking at a 2013, 2014, 2015 type 4runner purchase I want 4wd
then

whatever configuration folds flat the best. I understand that some have 3 rows and some have 2 rows of seats and the sales people seem to be a little clueless.

Basically I want this

https://www.google.com/search?q=hond...lAsVNV5hOY4%3D

Which is the picture of a Honda pilot where the seats fold totally flat to what is essentially a truck bed behind the driver. Which is what I have in my Blazer now and I want really bad. But the Honda Pilot doesn't have 4wd.

So.....

If you have a 2013, 2014, 2015 4runner could you chime in with how many rows of seats you have and how well the seats fold down? Are there gaps? Does it ramp up? etc.

Thanks,

P.S. Do not tell me to get a truck or a minivan etc. I do not want one.

i was shopping for a limited T4R with a 3rd row and literally could not find one in my area with that 3rd row. Ended up with a Lexus GX 460 instead. Essentially the same thing with a v8 and 3rd row standard minus the sportier T4R look.

Anyway, from my research the 2row is what you want. everything folds much flatter. the 3rd row folds into the floor and you lose cargo space.

With 3rd row you will end up with slight elevation on row backrests, as they do not fold down flat. 2nd row backrests, when folded down, give you even more of that, with gap between them. You can fold back front seat backrest but you will end up with heck of uneven surface. But then you can stick 10 ft long something inside.
Does it have to be a SUV? Sienna comes with 4WD and you have ton of cargo space.

The Sienna doesn't come with 4WD. It comes with AWD. And its much lower. And a Minivan, which OP SPECIFICALLY didn't ask for.

The current Generation (at least the 2012's) fold completely flat.

I just rented one with 3 rows. The 3rd row had no foot space, so passengers back there had their knees in their chest. The seats were comically thin (almost like a camping chair or bleacher seat). I thought the truck was ok, I understand why people love them and drive them into the ground but the gas mileage was dismal (13-14 around town) and the performance was fair. I liked my Yukon a million times better and I suspect the fuel economy would be almost identical.

3rd row seats eat into your cargo space even when folded down out of use.

So I got the 4Runner without them.

My dogs would not have fit.
