I bought it because Tundra is a good, strong, reliable 1/2 ton and actually feels like a truck still, unlike the competition.
Thanks to recent reviews putting it behind the competition for things like a "bouncy trucklike ride" and "not a new platform/drivetrain design" I got a screaming deal on it too.
2002, V6 owned 8 years, 102K miles when bought, currently 173K miles still running strong, first time owned a truck and will buy another Tundra if decide to get a new truck but wife said I can have new truck when this one falling in pieces but this truck refuse to die.
We bought a 2016 just a couple of weeks ago ourselves. Love the looks, ride and power it supplies. Plan on mounting a SnowDogg snowplow to it this fall, been reading a lot of great reviews on how it does a great job plowing snow with the best of them. Talked to two Tundra owners who plow snow with theirs and both said that they will never go back to any of the others.
Plan on adding a tri-fold soft tonneau cove and a bug guard. already mounted noddle step bars, window wind guards, crafted seat covers and Weather-Tek floor mats.
Bought a 08 after Katrina so as to have a reliable v8 4door truck to run from hurricanes. So far no complaints, Put a undercover lid on the back so it's like a big trunk to load up on evacuations, don't really use it much as have a 4 banger frontier to commute to work, wife use's mostly to pick up grocery's, lol. A few of my friends put a ton of miles on them w/no complaints, as far as a deal remember in 08 right before stocks crashed and gas was around 5$'s a gallon? Chevy and Dodge wanted msrp for there trucks(burnt bad on a Ford so never looked) a few of my friends had trouble with Titans, bought the Tundra 20k out the door, course they know when to unload, as they wont be bailed out by the Government, lol.
I once saw a sticker on a Dodge truck that read, "Don't put my American Flag on your foreign junk". Funny, my Tundra like so many other Tundra's was built in Texas and in a Union shop.
Proud on my truck and I love the way it looks and rides
Yep, like I've told more than one gm owner, u have a truck built by a American company in mexico by Mexican's, I have a truck built by a Japanese company in Texas by Mexican's now what's da problem, lol.
Its funny how so many people have no idea how much of their so called American made cars and trucks are actually foreign made. But just because it carries an American name from years ago, they think its ALL AMERICAN. I love my Tundra
