Hello, I have a 2007 Camry SE with 127K miles. I am the original owner and have completed every recommended service to my car. One week ago, my check engine light went on. It subsequently turned off after about 3 days only to come back on after another day or two. My mechanic ran a diagnostic test and it showed a P0606 ECM Processor Error and referred me to the dealer. Dealer ran a diagnostic test and told me the same code was thrown with many others. I was told they reset the ECM and the light was off. If it comes back on, I may need a new ECM. It came back on I have a hard time understanding why the light would come on intermittently. I ensured that my gas cap was on tightly also. Any suggestions or ideas what this could be? Also, important to note is that my car has zero symptoms. It's running great. Should I replace the ECM or should I wait until my car dies? Also important to note is that I do not do well with any kind of indicator light on. I want it fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

MJ

Just wanted to mention I'm also a member of a Toyota forum, and one of the techs there also says it's usually an O2 sensor problem.

Clearing codes rarely works. You can clear the code, fine. When it returns there's something more there, obviously. It appears to be an O2 sensor is the common issue. It apparently messes with the cars "brain" or ECM.

I'd look for secondary codes. Also, it would be worthwhile to do some testing of the O2 sensors with a millimeter. Check the voltage.

Do the smoke test and see if one of your vacuum hoses is leaking. With all those miles I would think they need replacement, or some of them.
