How well does the a/c work while sitting in traffic? And what powers it, battery or gas engine?
I believe the gas engine powers the AC. I've only used the AC once since it hasn't been warmer than 75 here, but it worked fine, although your MPG can take a hit. The solar roof on the Package IV helps power the AC.
exactly. not a lot of MILES per gallon, but a lot of SMILES per gallon.
The Jetta TDI is a great car if you do a lot of highway driving. That's a funny ad, but I wish the Guinness Book of World Records would drive my car since it would smash the TDI's "record."
Toyota has done a decent job at rippin off the 370Z's headlights and making the Prius a little more interesting looking, but its still as fun to drive as getting a anasthetic-free root canal, and as nice looking as a hairy mole on Rosie O' Donnell's fat butt.
Are you averaging 57.4 miles per gallon in mostly highway driving? My 1999 Honda Civic HX manual transmission gets me 51.2 miles gallon avg at 70 miles an hour highway!
But the Prius is a GM killer! The Chevy Volt will suck big time as 100% electric is not useful everywhere and Texas electricity is too expensive! GM is major fail with their Chevy Volt and their claim to "Professional Grade" engineering! The Prius outclasses any GM engineering, and this is how the Detroit three should make hybrid cars!
I wish I had a job now to get a Prius when they go Lithium Ion batteries!

No, I drive 95% city. I don't think your Civic can do that unless you know advanced hypermiling techniques.
As a former owner of a GMC Sierra 4X4, Chevy 454 SS pickup, and Pontiac Grand Prix GT, I want the Volt to be successful, but a starting price around $40,000 is only going to make it a niche vehicle.

It's fun only having to fill up once a month at the gas station.
Whether you like the looks or not, I'd suggest you get used to it, because most of the auto manufactures are planning on designing cars with the an aerodynamic style similar to the Prius in the near future. Thanks for the mental image though, yuck.
Congratulations on your new car. Did you have a second generation Prius before you bought this one?
