Hi there!

I'm taking a big trip this year, and couldn't decide where to go.... I'm thinking Europe or Hawaii, though I'm open to other places. I've been to France and Italy before, so this time it would be London, Amsterdam, and other cities.. still deciding which cities if I choose Europe. Any places in particular you've visited that you'd recommend? I'd appreciate any feedback! And also, recommendations on things to do and places to eat there!

Taking a big trip is extremely personal and dependent upon what your preferences are.

My suggestion would be to get a European travel book from the library and find out what meets your needs.

If you offered me a ticket right now to anyplace in the world, I'd go to Djibouti, because from there I could easily make side trips to Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somaliland and Yemen, none of which I have been to yet.

Just a suggestion: Google European River trips, we've had some delightful experiences on them. We're taking another one later this year - Amsterdam to the Black Sea. Next year its France, Honfleur to Arles, and then overland to Nice.

There are many others to choose from and its a very pleasant way to travel.

If you enjoyed France and Italy, you will find many other places in Europe worth going to. Especially for how close together everything is, you can easily hop around via train. Have you looked into Fodor's or Rick Steve's? They offer good travel books and even consider different types of trips not just destinations.

I enjoyed London, plenty to see. I will go back again to see the stuff I missed the first time.

I would go somewhere I haven't been to before, ie; Hawaii. If my choices were places I had already visited, then I would go to Vienna.

I would recommend Hawaii because all the others are essentially the same style of places. Since you have no real other asian/polynesian places listed, hawaii would eb the one that would be radically different even though one of the 50 USA states.

thanks, all. i've added costa rica to the list. i've decided against europe as "pacific flights" pointed out, it's all basically the same type of place and i've already been on a europe trip. anyone have any thoughts about hawaii vs costa rica or anywhere else?
