I think it's wonderful you are planning on doing this. I turn 63 tomorrow and we take frequent trips - I am the principal driver, only asking hubby to pitch in over bridges or high mountainsides (I'm petrified of heights). I've driven halfway across the country - from NYC to Wisconsin - not that long ago either. Generally we stop about every 2 hours and it's usually a half hour stop - I park at the edge of the parking area so i have a decent walk to the rest stop - potty, coffee, snack, and water. There's no rush. Do some tai chi type exercises/muscle stretching, call a friend/family, chat with someone. We bring a small computer and grab a hot spot when we stop for dinner to check on hotel for the night, make a reservation. Stop before dark, relax, take a swim.
Enjoy your trip. We move to TN in Sept, stop in and say hello!!!
