If Spirit flew to either Seattle or Anchorage (they flew to neither), then you could get your airfare price for like $90 like you want. However, everything on the flight you have to pay for (water, snacks, etc) to make up for the cheap fair. Spirit is the US's version of Ryanair.
Southwest/Jet Blue would be another cheap option (maybe $200 or less), but neither fly that route.

Jetblue do fly out of Anchorage, but every time I've looked either the flight is full or isn't in service yet. Prices are a little cheaper but still not on a par with the budget airlines in Europe.

Don't you even have to pay for getting an aisle or window seat or bringing on a carry-on on Spirit Air? I always see flights on that carrier, but I'm worried about using it for anything more than a short direct flight.

You have to pay for pretty much everything on Spirit. You can get your $25 ticket, but it costs $40 to check a bag $10 for a glass of water & a bag of 4 pretzels, $30 for a blanket & pillow. I wouldn' be surprised if they charged for a window seat.
