Hi
I live in DC and am travelling to Hampton Roads for 5 nites in late August. I've been watching the hotels I like- not much movement on the price yet.
When is the best cheapest date to reserve the hotel?
I was thinking june 15 but maybe too early?

Thanks!

Book travel like you vote in Chicago - early and often.

WITH ONE EXCEPTION. Make sure that there are NO cancellation fees and that the reservation is NOT nonrefundable or non cancelable (i.e., Hotwire and Priceline).

One more thing. Generally, the major websites (Orbitz, Travelocity, and Expedia) only let you book 9-11 months in advance. Individual hotel websites usually allow you to book 330-360 days in advance.

August is tourist season. If that is a popular destination, it is possible that you will not find a bargain motel room. Bargain rooms are only available when there are unsold rooms.

Hotel rates doen't generally fluctuate and change like airfares do except in low season--which August is not. Book now.

most all hotels I've ever booked with don't charge for cancellations so there is no reason not to book early and switch hotels or rebook as the prices change
