In my entire flight back home, I had so much trouble getting comfortable to get sleep. I'm only 4'9", so my legs were dangling off the floor for the most part, which caused so much knee pain. I had a window seat and thank goodness the middle seat was empty, but still I didn't want the person seated at the aisle to think I'm hogging the two seats at their expense. The plane didn't have any footrests or legrests, so I was really uncomfortable for the most part.
For the experienced travellers here, what can you suggest?
i thought about that, but is that ok though? i thought they want to keep the space at our feet clear
place beneath seat is designed to keep such. if required (let say when landing) you can hide you bag within then pull from during flight. if you have doubts ask air company ... and 1-2 shots of whiskey make trip shorter .

I fly alot and that's exactly what I do - I haven't had an issue as long as it's stowed for takeoff and landing...

i see. thanks! the attendants are gonna hate me for it though since i have to bother them to help me get the suitcase in and out of the overhead bin. and with the state of the overall customer service among flight attendants now plus being in an economy flight...
Don't stow it in the overhead, just put the carry-on under the seat in front of you when you get into your seat, as stated above by Alaskan Mutt.
but don't they want the space at your feet clear? my carryon is the standard suitcase, too large to be put underfoot. plus i have my laptop with me too
