I do agree with you there. Maybe a better word for my trip would be invigorating? Whenever I come back from a good trip to a bustling city I feel invigorated.

hmmm, about 1000 places. I'll name four:

-Cuzco
-Sao Paulo (more interested in the surrounding areas than the city itself)
-The coasts of Spain/Portugal
-Greece

Not sure there is two weeks of stuff to see/do in Greece unless you are taking ferries to the various islands. Don't get me wrong, Greece is interesting and in parts beautiful, but I'm not sure that it would keep ones interest for that long.

In my own experience, the best cities to base out of for a week or two are London (as mentioned by several earlier posters) and Rome.

Both offer a lot of interesting sites within the city plus a number of nice day trips.

The only other site I can think of that might be able to compete with these two cities would be Jerusalem in Israel.

On my top 10 list:

1. Jakarta (haven't been to Indonesia yet, heard great stuff!)
2. Havana (hopefully the embargo gets lifted sometime, I really want to visit the beaches and historical sites but I'm chickening out of traveling through Canada because I've heard of people who've still been nabbed doing so)
3. Pyongyang (hey, it'll be an experience of a lifetime!)
4. Azores (to compare with the Canary Islands)
5. Tripoli (finish up North Africa and visit Leptis Magna)
6. Anguilla (experience real, isolation)
7. Chicago (I'm so big on international travel that I forgot this one!)
8. Auckland (didn't get enough of NZ!)
9. Dar es Salaam/Tanzania (Kenya didn't fulfill my African savannah desire completely!)
10. Bangkok (spent just 2 days, could use 2 weeks!)

I just spent a week doing that in New England, and would love to have had another week to explore the small towns and villages.

I would take two weeks in Cambodia, to explore the Buddhist temples and the culture there.
