So GF and I are looking for a beach getaway for spring break 2015 ( we are not drinkers and definitely not the Cancun party types). Would love a quiet, scenic place with nice food options and soft sand and good room options (jacuzzi tub is a plus!)

So been looking at Hawaii and Florida resorts but cost can be quite high for the real nice ones ($500+/night)

We're ok with all-inclusive, but since we don't drink much at all if its much cheaper to just get the room that's fine.

Budget would be somewhere in the range of $1000/person for a week. Any other hidden gem areas besides the Hawaii/Florida?

Thanks in advance!

Charleston and Hilton Head are both nice and not drunken frat kid type locations. That said, spring break on your budget, you're not going to get a room at a high end beach front resort anywhere.

What you "might" be able to find would be a 1BR condo in a beach community in the $1000-1200 range for the week. You'd save a ton by eating many of your meals in--maybe plan on splurging for a few really nice dinners out and eat in the rest of the time?

You won't have daily maid service, bellmen, or valet parking, but you will possibly be able to find a place with a jetted tub.

Look at Homefromhome.com or vrbo.com

I prefer to rent through an agency, even though it's usually 10-15% more expensive. That gives me some assurances that it's not a scam, and that the property really is what they claim it is. Also keep in mind that it will (almost always) be 10-25% smaller and less nice than it appears in the photos. That said, there are still some great places out there.

Why restrict yourself to the US? If you want to go on a budget vacation is makes sense to go to a budget destination, yes?

Except that airfare can be killer during spring break, even to budget destinations. It could wipe out half or more of their budget in the blink of an eye.

February, (assuming that is the OP's 'spring break time'), can be 'nice' to chilly to damn cold in Charleston/HH/FloriBama.

Some weeks 'there', it can be wonderful; some week(s) there it can be low 30s at night/barely 50 daytime and very windy. Not that those temps are impossible, but if those conditions are present, it can feel like March in the North, imo.

Potential 'good' weather in Feb in US 48: SW FL, eg Sarasota south to Naples, or the eastern lower qtr of FL, imo.
Southern AZ also, but not much 'beach'.

If OP is driving from Midwest to SW FL, it is ~ 1400 miles. Air travel has a few options, but little to none will be inexpensive in Feb/March/Spring Break Time.

The hotels/motels that aren't top dollar are to be found, but they book early, as do most condos, esp ones 'on'/near any shoreline.

Many COAs prohibit weekly rentals, so those that do get booked up soon.

Rereading this again $1000PP will not get you to Hawaii.
You will be hard pressed to find an all inclusive in the US.

What dates as spring break dates vary?

You may be able to find an AI for that in Riviera Maya, close to Cancun but quieter.
Don't think that budget would get you to Cabo either.
That budget may limit you too 4 or 5 nights and not a full week too.

As for US try the places in Alabama I mentioned earlier also South padre Island texas

OP, if you're not the party animals, go where the old folks are. Tampa/St. Pete/Naples/Venice. After nine PM you will have the place to yourselves.

Obviously you know nothing of that area. Those cheap hotels are a good hour or more from the beach and are DUMPS.
