We are thinking of traveling to these two areas of Sweden in late June. We are in our early 50's and have traveled the US extensively, and a few Europe trips as well. So far the costs of plane tickets are sticker shock! Also wondering about reasonable, clean hotels or inns. We don't need luxury, just comfortable, quiet and clean with private bath. Thanks for any tips or advice!

Hello!
From where in the US are you flying? The ticket prices usually go up in the beginning of June since that starts the tourist season in Sweden, but you can usually still find some decent deals.

As far as reasonable, what kind of price range would that be? Lodging can be quite expensive as many other items there, so it's a relative term.

If you have any other questions, just let me know - I grew up in Stockholm as you may be able to tell by my nick.

We would/could leave from Newark, Baltimore or Philadelphia. One of our former exchange students is getting married at the end of June, and we'd love to attend her wedding in Gothenburg. I did find an airline rate of around $700 per person, but it was a special only through the end of March. I may cave and actually go to a travel agent to see if they can do better. I know that food is expensive, so we were hoping we could find a bed and breakfast or apartment for under $1000 for the 5 or 6 nights we would be there.
