It's his vacation and at least he goes somewhere. Probably has a lot of memories tied to the place by now. I have neighbors with a RV who go to the same RV park and the same RV site and spend a month with the same people who also RV to the same place each year. They love it.
It's definitely not what I would do if I only had one vacation a year and I think it's totally fine that you all talk about it, but that said if that's what makes him happy then great!
I think we're all missing out one way or another. I will never get to visit all the places in the world in my lifetime, much less visit them all the number of times that I want. And I also think I'm missing out on what he has...that is, having a getaway that I know and love, where it's my second home and everyone knows me. I'll never have that as there's no way I will ever go to the same resort more than a few times in my lifetime. Definitely not 15 years and counting! But if I had several lifetimes then maybe I'd give it a shot.
He's betting on a winning horse. He works all year for 2 weeks of vacation. What if he spent it going to somewhere new and hated it? It just says to me he's not a gambler. He has 2 weeks and wants to be sure he'll enjoy them, and knows he'll enjoy them at his favorite resort. Makes perfect sense to me.
I'm more of an adventurer, but as I get older, my list of what I will put up with gets shorter and shorter. Especially with regard to weather. And I want to be able to take my dog.
My cousin has two weeks of vacation in his job. He takes it all at once. Two weeks at a resort in Northern Minnesota. The same resort, the same weeks and the same cabin. This for the last 15 years.
Is there something to be said for sticking with the tried and true vacation as long as you like it?
It's what he likes. Probably very relaxing for him. Why would this be an issue?
I am just curious what other people think because it was a conversation piece on Christmas. Half of the relatives thought that was great and the other half thought that fear was stopping him from going to new places and opening his mind to a different type of vacation.
It's his vacation. I didn't vote on the subject because it would not be my choice, but I'm not him.
