Whole-heartedly agree; Mexico and the Philippines rank higher-then-expected because in part, lots of Americans go there. Thailand's ranking is probably affected by "sex tourism". And the Islamic countries are skewed because there's a wide distance between modern, but small emirates like Bahrain and Qatar, and sinkholes like Somalia or places with a lot of hostility.

This is one where you simply have to do your research and use your judgement; and there's an impressionable minority within that irrational critter called "the public" who are scared to death of that.
