I have an 8 year old daughter and we are planning a WDW trip in May.

I don't have other kids that will travel with us.

What are your thoughts? DH thinks we should put off the trip another year so that we can plan trip to include nephew and nieces.

I am graduating from school in FL and will be there anyway this May... my thought is let's do WDW now... we may never get around to going again.

Anyone ever go to WDW with only 1 child?

My daughter is outgoing and makes fast friends at parks, sledding etc. I don't think her trip will be spoiled because we are not taking anyone with us.

Definitely make this just a family bonding thing! Do it with your daughter alone! You will have so much fun! If you haven't been, you're in for a treat! Disney is NOT just for kids!

I am envious that you get to have one on time with your daughter at WDW. I have 2 children and have taken them before and it was wonderful. However, I imagine that getting to spend quality time with each of them (just the 2 of us)would make them feel even more special.Enjoy!

Going to Disney with one child does not mean you'd be doing a lot of watching - there's no generation gap there, and I've found what a child likes, so does an adult - Disney seems to bring out the kid in everyone. We have one daughter and have been taking her to Disney periodically throughout the years - she's 19 and we all still enjoy riding Snow White as much now as when she was three.

I am going to WDW w/ my only daughter for the second time in April. She will be 7. We had SO MUCH fun, you yourself become a kid at WDW, so you dont need another child! LOL

I think you will be fine- have fun!

you should definitely go! you will have plenty of fun with your daughter. the first time we went, we had only one child. the joy of the entire trip was watching his face light up with each new magical disney thing! we made sure to take pictures with as many of the disney characters that we could. it was a wonderful trip!!

Go with her alone. 7 and 8 is a GREAT age for WDW - still young but out of the nap stage. We took our 7 year old many years ago alone (left our 1 yr old with family) and it was fantastic. Once my son reached that age - we took him too.

I have to agree with the other posters. It is so much fun to go with just one child. Then, you can focus on doing the things she wants to do. It's a great time for both of you and there are so many things to experience, she won't miss any other kids. In fact...she'll probably enjoy being able to "run the show!" I've gone twice with just my daughter, and we did the princesses, and got to do a lot more rides, etc. Fewer (and shorter) bathroom breaks, meals went faster, and no fighting between the kids! Enjoy the trip

Just returned from a great 5 days at WDW with our 3 year old son. Don't pass up this opportunity for a great family experience...and let your inner-kid come out while you're there!
