The Transportation Security (broken link) Administration said it will change they way its officers search passengers with body piercings after a Texas woman complained she was forced to remove a nipple ring with pliers in order to board an airplane.
TSA to change procedures for passengers with body piercings (broken link)
I saw this on CNN this morning, apparently TSA issued an apology to the woman for having to undergo the situation. I don't get it, they have never made me take off any of my jewelry, granted diamonds probably don't set off the detector, but still I felt sorry for her to be put in such a situation, regardless of whether or not I would wear her type of jewelry, I still feel she was not treated accordingly.
j/k...personally I find nipple rings totally disgusting but I think people are entitled to wear what they want, that is why we live in a free country and I don't see how her nipple ring is any different than a earring.
Did making that woman go through that make our country safer???? Of course not! And THIS sort of thing is what our country is spending your tax dollars on! Ridiculous! (Body piercings and keeping dangerous mascara off of airplanes!)
