Does anybody here have experience on this train?

I'm trying to understand why this train is so expensive. A two-day, one-night trip from Vancouver to Jasper is over $3000 USD per couple.

Canada is always a little more expensive on things but I also wondered about this trip as well. I’ve wanted to go for a number of years now and thought the same thing about the cost. I can’t remember if the trip included the cost of lodging and food however, maybe someone can provide some good info on their trip?

The train does not cross Canada. The routes are within BC and and Alberta and does a dip down to Seattle as well.

It is a privately run high end train. Think of the Orient Express. It's expensive because of that.

Scroll down through this link, and you get an idea.

Canada's national train company is VIA Rail. They offer a wider range of fares and accommodation.

That is expensive. DW and I booked a sleeper unit from Minneapolis to Seattle and it cost $900 for two of us and that included meals.

Not quite the same route or scenery.

The Rocky Mountaineer is a rail cruise. It is not meant to get you from A to B; it has been designed so that you can enjoy the scenery from A to B.

It is very popular with Australians, many of our friends have done it though we haven't. Most of those type of train trips are expensive, similarly the Ghan and Indian Pacific here are horribly expensive.
I think they charge what they do because they can. I know the Ghan is booked out months ahead, not sure with the Canadian one. But everyone I know who has been on the Rocky Mountaineer has loved it.
