Is anyone going to Tokyo in 2020?

After attending the Beijing 2008 summer games, I'm wanting to attend another Olympics.

I'm currently TAD on assignment (military) until early June and plan on taking 2-3 weeks of leave once that's done. I'm going to visit folks in Hawaii while on leave, but also am thinking about timing my leave to hit up Tokyo for the games.

Curious to know who else is planning to go and whether you've bought flights/paid for hotels yet. When I went to Beijing, I booked my flights and hotel approximately a year out, so would be a little behind if I attend Tokyo 2020.

I don't like crowds, so I'll pass.

No way. Its always been political in one form or another and has gotten worse. Add the fact the IOC is as corrupt as FIFA there is not a chance that I'll be going or watching.

That's fair. And crowds in Japanese urban settings are bad enough even without a major international sporting event

Fair enough. I go for the shared experiences with fellow travelers, though I'll definitely see some of the sporting events, too! Its a great opportunity to interact with and learn from people from all over the world who converge in one location for the same purpose. At least, that's one way I justify it
