Hey guys and gals looking for advice. I am about to start a trip from NYC NY to Fort Worth TX. I would really like to make this trip straight through or get at lest a couple hours from my destination. What tips and trick are y’all doing to get through and is it even possible to make a 23+Hr trip straight through.
Thanks in advance.

Driving during a snow blizzard tends to keep me awake. (but can turn a 23 hr trip into a 60 hr trip)

Be safe, be smart.

Are you used to driving long distances?

If driving solo, rest BEFORE you need to. (Or it may be too late for you and the other guy you hit)

I assume you mean driving 23 hours stopping only for gas/restrooms? If you're going solo, please don't do it. You'll be putting yourself and others in danger. Especially if you aren't accustomed to driving long distances.

Cannonball runs can be a lot of fun but aren't any way to plan a move.
Especially when it's cold and rainy. Road Trip google map

Plan for several good spots to stop... to rest and to have a bit of fun too.

One passage to adulthood is learning to stop and get a room rather than “driving straight through.”

I highly advise against this. I used to drive from Denver to Miami and back. You need to stop and rest. You will be putting yourself and others in danger.

23 hours is way to long to drive straight through. Me and my husband regularly drive 10 to 12 hours in a day splitting the drive in half, I drive in the morning as Im more awake and he drives the second shift when Im tired. We start very early (like 430 or 5 am) and pull into our destination around dark.

With 2 people 23/24 hours would be almost impossible, but doable if you drive 6 hour shifts and the other person rested/slept during their off 6 hours.
-You hit the road around 5. You drive until 11 or 12. Passenger sleeps as much as they can.
-Switch, you take a nap into the afternoon while the driver drives until about 6 pm.
-Switch, you drive from 6-12 while the other person sleeps from about 8-12.
-Stop and find coffee etc and stretch, do a little exercise to get the copilots blood pumping, you may need to help keep them awake during the last 6 hours
-You rest and chat with driver for the last leg.

If its just you, leave early in the morning, drive for about 12-14 hours (stopping when tired and need a break, eat outside of the car etc. Stop by 6 or 7 at the latest. Have a nice dinner and wind down and relax a little.

Get up early and drive the remaining 10 hours (youll be much more tired the second day)

How old are you?

The longest solo drive I ever made was 17 hours, Seattle to San Francisco. I was about 40, and stopped only for gas and bathroom breaks. I could have gone a few hours longer.

But now, many years later, I get tired after 3 hours driving. Even with my husband splitting the driving, we try to keep road trips to about 6 hours a day.

Plan an overnight stop about halfway through the trip. It will be safer and more pleasant.

Similarly, I once drove from Oakland, CA to Spokane, WA by myself, at age 28. I did make it straight through stopping only for rest stops, dinner at Redding, and breakfast in Richland. I left after work at 5pm, got there to our friends' home at about 10am the next morning, and went to sleep for a few hours until they got home from work. It's about a 15+ hour drive, but took me a lot longer because I took frequent stops to walk around, get coffee, and once tried to take a nap, but being all alone in the middle of nowhere on Highway 395 with only the sound of coyotes was just a bit too creepy to sleep.

I wouldn't try that now!
