A friend of mine is coming to visit us in July and we're planning on going to New York City for a night or two. We would basically need two rooms or a room with two sleeping areas (bedrooms). Three adults and three kids under 5. Any good hotel recommendations?

I have been studying this same issue for weeks now. I arranged a swap for my place in Italy.

However, Expedia has the Eastgate Tower Suites at 190 plus taxes. The Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea is at 219 plus taxes. You will need two rooms. The Eastgate might have a room big enough to accommodate all of you. Check Expedia. The prices I state are for 2 adults and 2 older kids.

Do you know what area you want to stay in? (I.E. Midtown, Upper East Side, SoHo, ect)

A midtown hotel with large rooms - good for kids, is the Flathotel. I think they have the most space of any hotel I have seen in Manhattan. You may be able to get a suite. Not cheap, however, not much in NYC is.
