I used a Rick Steves money belt for the first time this year when I went to Europe. It has one waterproof compartment to keep passport, bills etc. and another 2 for credit cards/ATM cards. It takes a bit of getting used to but it is very secure and after a while you don't even feel it. Keep most of the cash in there and only the amount you need for the day in your pocket. I never had any problems in places like Prague which are renowned for pickpocketing.
See, travelers (and people in general) should be allowed to rig up their pockets and such with a 1 amp pickpocket trap. For example, thief sticks his fingers in your pocket, and ZAP! He's laying dead as a doornail on the pavement. If enough people had these, pickpockets would soon be unheard of.
My old favorite was my wallet which had a chain attached but the chain that attached to my pants/belt broke (not the chain itself but the leather strap that held it on) so now I just stuff my wallet in a pocket, preferably a cargo pocket to the side or something like that...
But how could someone use your boarding pass if they stole it? If they do it past the security checkpoint you would just go to the gate and report it there and if they stole it before the gate you would report it to the tsa or just go back to the check in counter and report it.
I don't think they would try to use it. But it still would cause a lot of trouble if a bunch of people had to stand in line again just to get another printout of their boarding pass. I think the people who let that happen should hold the blame. It's a waste of time for the airport and for the more conscientious travelers.
It's similar to a situation where someone gets pickpocketed in a high-theft area and makes a police report about it. It's a waste of the police deparment's time in many cases.
I've made 4 trips to Sweden and back in the last year...from Alaska. Never had a lost luggage incident or bags gone through on planes or in hotels. And no I didn't have the "Brief Safe" either!
