I opened this to post about how they were still playing the same songs on the radio when I left in 1989 as they were when I moved there in 1977. I had forgotten about ok95, a rare blip of creativity in the sea of mediocrity that is radio in general.
I came back repeatedly to visit my mother thru the 90's and I found no difference in radio then as well. My guess is they're still running thru the same 50 or so songs as they were in 1977 with the exception of a few new songs.

OK95 was great. I remember Greg D. He had to be the best DJ back then (did he DJ at Skate West too.?.). I also remember when 960 KALE was a top 40 radio station. Their radio call letters jingle was great as was the old KONA call letters jingle. Wish someone had those saved somewhere.

I currently work for New Northwest Broadcasters who had 95.7 BOB FM and we all loved it, too. It was an uppermanagement decision to change it because they had trouble selling it to clients, it didn't do well in the ratings and they wanted to have DJs on the station.

I miss BOB-FM, too. That was the station I listened to when I moved to Tri-Cities a little over a year ago.

I still remember the day when BOB first came to the Tri-Cities which was in mid-September 2005 and I was amazed with the song selection they've had, I've heard songs on that station that I haven't heard on the radio for over ten years

And that variety is what made it great! It was a true alternative rather than a radio station that plays the same songs as 2 or 3 other radio stations in the same city.

But that's corporate radio for ya. Appeal to the masses and not the individuals

OK95, although I do wish we had an alt rock station, 97.1 just doesn't cut it.

One station I also wish we hadn't gotten rid of was 97.9 The HAWK (Classic Rock), I thought the station had a wider playlist than The Eagle 106.5 ever did.
