I saw part of it but I missed most. I saw many similarities between the daughter and the mother.
Is there anyway to obtain the DVD or to watch it on the computer?
I noticed that the daughter Rebeca Babcock, had also begun her life with men rather early - especially considering her solid middle class family.
The huge tattoo, the desire to become a doctor despite huge odds and the out of wedlock kids.
No I did not see her or the show but the apple does not fall too far from the tree ya know ? so yeah like mother like daughter one can only hope that she does not end up killing any of her kids .

Thank you so much for sending that link. A haunting case. I had read the book Small Sacrifices and remember the movie with the astonishing Farrah Fawcett who was so good that she did not seem to be acting.

Seeing the whole show only reinforced my initial suspicions that there are some traits that are inherited. Not everyone's response to learning that their biological mother is a convicted child killer would be to "go wild" - get pregnant at 17 - out of wed lock, pierce your tongue, become involved with drugs etc. Some would want to take an opposite path.
I also think that the adoptive parents could have put the brakes on and exercised some parental control. Why would they trow her out when she obviously needed help?
I have an adopted daughter as well as biological kids. Before it got to that point I would have reigned my kid in - sent her to a therapeutic boarding school - something.
Anyway I do wish Ms. Babcock the best. However I agree that medical school IS a "lofty goal" for someone with a child to care for.
Downes tried the same thing at about the same age.

I have the book and the movie. Both are amazing. Yes, Farrah was absolutely perfect in that role.
I saw the previews for this show once (the same day as it aired) and thought it was going to be an interview with Christie. I was surprised that it was the child who was born to this bi*ch when she was imprisoned. I worked for the Michigan Dept. of Corrections and first heard about this case, and the author of Small Sacrifices, Ann Rule, when I worked at the Women's Intake facility/prison and several female corrections officers were gathered around a copy of the book. Did y'all know Diane became involved with Randy Woodfield, the I-5 killer, another of Ann Rule's True Crime cases/books? The men's prison was next door to the women's prison and they could "communicate" through the see through fences. This child was the second baby girl she gave birth to after her actions with the first three. Also, Danny was fathered by another man, so this wh**e had 5 kids by 4 different men, plus her affair with the married man that she committed this crime for.......sew it shut! BTW, anyone know the real name of this guy? I'd like to know if the other baby girl she gave birth to is aware of her parentage. She is 2 years older than this child.

Reason: Added more information.
I happen to think that there is lots of hope for Rebecca...I've known several women who became doctors while raising a child...I think she has made a great life for herself in spite of knowing who her birth mother is. I think, contrary to some of you, that the apple fell very far AWAY from this particular tree -- plenty of kids act out like she did in her teens, and plenty of those never put themselves back together like this young woman apparently has done. I wish her every good thing.
Magnolia Thunder I do hope that you are right.
I just saw some peculiar similarities between Rebecca and er birth mom - and it gave me chills.
As an adoptive mom and biological mom, I would be the first one to champion NURTURE over NATURE.
But all genes and traits are not "built alike" - at least from my rather limited socio-psychological research on this subject.
IF ANYTHING I WONDER ABOUT HOW AND WHY THE ADOPTIVE PARENTS DID NOT INTERVENE EARLIER!!!
That was my main thought.
I wish Rebecca the best, but medical school for a woman in her mid 20s who already has a child - seems unrealistic at best.
