Sad in so many ways.

Someone exercising their rights under the Constitution and they get a bullet in the head.

The cop is going to have a very hard time in prison. I don't have a problem with the police, I've never been arrested and other than smoking a little bit of pot 40 years ago (I never got caught) I've never broken any laws or harmed another human being.

In my opinion the best video on youtube is this 49 minute video titled "Don't talk to Police" and its followup. It is 49 minutes of the best advice any attorney can give you and, courtesy of youtube, this one is free!

Sadly, I must agree that speaking to the police is a dangerous undertaking.
This is tragic and need not have happened.
There are good helpful and geninely sincere policemen out there.
But just like any other profession there are those who are ill suited to the job.

Here is the BIG DIFERENCE between the police and any other professional -

A bad nurse or teacher can not shoot you.
Or arrest you.

I am sure there are two sides to this story, I highly doubt this guy was just sitting with his church choir reading the bible at the time.

How is this a typical "bash the police" thread when the guy was arrested? he is obviously a bad apple if the police had to arrest one of their own.

if it had been your brother that he murdered would you feel the same way?

Maybe read the first sentence of the thread where the actions of a bad cop who was arrested and charged are used to justify why they are all bad.

It's just the same weak thinking garbage that you get in so many threads where group X is bad because one member did something. Usually the favored logic of the racists, religious zealots (including the atheists) or political hacks that lurk on these forums.

I think relations with the police and other civic officials varies across the world in direct relation to how much of a corrupt backwater hell-hole it is.

With that said I can understand why you may feel differently than others with regards to this topic.

You have no clue if he is a "bad apple." Simple fact is: POLITICS plays here. Some people get inflamed, such as yourself, and there is a HUGE public outrage. Doesn't mean he is guilty, etc. But, dammit, the PUBLIC want something done. So, officer is arrested and let it go to court. Then the "powers that be" can say: We did our jobs. Not our fault.

Ive been in the middle of politically motivated arrests. Even where the "suspect" is totally innocent. Just read, in news, everyday and you will see it. People bang the drums, even though the facts prove Joe Smith didn't commit Crime X. But, because the politics drive the arrest, some slob is thrown in jail. And this from a police officer....

You weren't there, you have no clue if this was a murder. None. Whatsoever. You are the major part of the problem; not the solution.

The police are human beings who chose their job.
I do not idolize teachers, accountants, clergy people, clerks or dentists.
Why should I idolize cops?
Like THEY walk on water and do not make mistakes?
Are they EVER wrong?

To some people pointing out the flaw of a policeman is some sort of herasy.
Everyone in every profession has a job to do - some do it well others abuse their power like teachers who engage in sexual relations with children or preditory priests.

Calling a member of any profession out for bad behavior is HEALTHY.
