On Monday, a murder trial begins in Windsor County, Vermont. For a myriad of reasons, it is going to be [actually already is] a high emotional / profile / and either way the jury ultimately rules, even more emotional and, probably threatening to some.
In essence [and do read the links included below] for the in between stuff -- one guy [who was apparently not an ideal citizen but wanting to start fresh and clean in VT] made some threats and went to a park [with an ax] to talk/confront a couple of other people -- went after a couple of other people w/the ax and, was shot, a couple of bullets apparently missed him, a couple did not - one in the leg - this person kept approaching, with ax in hand- the others who then shot at him again; this person w/the ax began to turn around and was shot again, in the back. The person who shot him admitted shooting him as 'self-defense' - guy had an ax.
Skipping to the middle section - Windsor County SA brought the case to a Grand Jury - Grand Jury did not give a 'true bill', thus no murder charges were brought and thus, dismissed.
So, there was all the outrage [by the victim's family, primarily], not the "offender's family" and all this other political stuff that accompanies this kind of thing AND thus, another prosecutor from a whole different county stepped in [not sure why exactly], slammed the process and not charming comments about the Windsor County SA and refiled the charges, did not go to the Grand Jury and after a series of motions back and forth, the jury has been selected and the trial begins on Monday.
Once you [all] have had the opportunity read the links below [and whatever else you may find on the net], I would be curious to hear what your thoughts and/or opinions are on this case.
Thanks!
