What are some serial killers whose main victims were men? A lot of them kill mostly women... pretty weak.

Richard Ramirez killed a lot of men, but that was mainly to get access to the women and children.

You probably haven't heard of most of these because they're not American, they killed smaller numbers of people, they happened too long ago and there aren't any sensational elements for the media. John Wayne Gacy got so much attention because he was an apparently straight, successful, friendly, chrismatic, married middle class white businessman and he hid a lot of bodies under his house. He was one of the absolute last people you would have suspected to be a serial killer.

On the outside, Dahmer seemed normal. White, polite, not poor but not rich either. Jeffrey Dahmer was a gay, rapist, pedophile, cannibal and necrophile - you can imagine the media frenzy. Not to mention the fact that he did all his raping and murdering in his own flat and hardly anyone suspected. He also tried making sex slaves by drilling holes into his victim's skulls and pouring acid/hot water into their brains. The fact that two policemen caught one of Dahmer's victims and let Dahmer take him back to his flat, only to be raped and murdered, also adds to the controversy and notoriety of the Dahmer murders.

just checked a story of one of Jeffrey Dahmer's killings, this has to be one of the stupidest cops

In the early morning hours of May 27, 1991, 14-year-old Konerak Sinthasomphone (the younger brother of the boy whom Dahmer had molested in 1988) was discovered on the street, wandering naked, heavily under the influence of drugs and bleeding from his rectum. Two young women from the neighborhood found the dazed boy and called 911. Dahmer chased his victim down and tried to take him away, but the women stopped him.[31] Dahmer told John Balcerzak and Joseph Gabrish, police officers dispatched to the scene, that Sinthasomphone was his 19-year-old boyfriend, and that they had an argument while drinking.
Against the protests of the two women who had called 911, who recognized him from the neighborhood and insisted that he was a child and could not speak English, the officers turned him over to Dahmer. They later reported smelling a strange scent while inside Dahmer's apartment, but did not investigate it. The smell was the body of Tony Hughes, Dahmer's previous victim, decomposing in the bedroom. The officers did not make any attempt to verify Sinthasomphone's age or identity, nor locate someone who could communicate with him, and failed to run a background check that would have revealed Dahmer being a convicted child molester still under probation.[32] Later that night, Dahmer killed and dismembered Sinthasomphone, keeping his skull as a souvenir."

There are plenty. Aileen Wuornos also comes to mind. Serial killers kill for different reasons, sex is just one of them.

I am very familiar with Dahmer's life and crimes, being fascinated by his crimes and true crime of any kind, for some reason.

Those officers, I believe, were later fired, after Dahmer's trial and confirmation that the cops let the boy go back with Dahmer.

It is horrible-so close to saving the boy.... the women saw the bizarre situation but cops did not.... But I remember that Dahmer was a master at covering crimes, lying and appearing quite normal in public.

Ramirez is one strange guy...and scary too, incredibly cunning and smart. Saw interviews with him while in prison...he talks in riddles and answers questions with questions of his own...

FYI: more info is available online of course, regarding serial killers... crimes/tales of the search for the killers, prison interviews. Most of them have been interviewed behind bars and it is fascinating to watch...Dahmer and Ramirez in particular.

being fired isn't a satisfying punishment, maybe doing time in prison since they were somewhat responsible for the death of the boy, it's like those 2 cops can be turned into fictional characters and be used in Saturday Night Live or any other comedy sitcoms. What comes to mind is also dumb and dumber.

An old friend of mine was in jail in CA. when Ramirez was first brought in. He said the guards made everyone turn their backs when they walked him past the cells for exercise or whatever. Apparently, Ramirez enjoyed being looked at and they didn't want to give him the satisfaction.

I hope the family of the victim that was returned to Dahmer got a fat paycheck and that reforms were made to the local domestic violence laws. Where I live, if there is a DV call, somebody is going to jail for at least 24 hours. It's a rule that's intended to save lives.

When Dahmer got killed in prison, there were some fringe elements that were talking about how he shouldn't have been housed where other prisoners could get to him, etc. I remember saying at the time, " I don't care if they housed him in a tank of hungry sharks."

I sometimes wonder whether Dahmer's death was truly accidental.

Leaving Dahmer, a white man who preyed on mostly black men, and Jesse Anderson, a white man who tried to frame two innocent black men for the murder of his wife (when he was the real culprit), alone with Christopher Scarver, a mentally ill black murderer who was known to be hostile to whites, just seems like too much of a coincidence to really be just a coincidence. Scarver beat both Dahmer and Anderson with a metal bar, which resulted in both of their deaths.

Anyone with common sense could predict what could have happened if Dahmer, Scarver and Anderson were left unsupervised with weapons. I honestly would not be surprised if the prison staff had planned it.
