This was one of the biggest crime stories in the history of modern New Mexico - the mass-shooting of seven people (including four children) by two suspects during a morning robbery at the Las Cruces Bowl bowling alley near the city's center. Four of them died, including three children aged 2, 6, and 13.

Unfortunately, due to what was later seen as a botched local police investigation, the case was never solved, and no named suspects have been identified:

CNN - Police hope for new information in brutal Las Cruces murders after 25 years

There was a 2011 documentary titled A Nightmare in Las Cruces made about the case.

As I mentioned in the Unsolved Mysteries show thread, this case was one of the most haunting ones I've seen.

I don't think it will ever be solved.

The Las Cruces bowling alley massacre happened 30 years ago — will it ever be solved?

Wow, this is a strange case that I was never aware of. It sounds like there was something more to this than stealing $5000 from the safe of the bowling alley. The cruelty of shooting many young children for no real reason is what puts this story over the top.

It is hard to understand why local law enforcement would not try to get help from state or federal agencies if they were not getting anywhere with the investigation. Of course, that should have been done 30 years ago. Probably too late now to track down any solid evidence, unless someone makes a confession on their death bed or something like that.
