Funny how people you'd imagine would be smarter...

My Bright-Lights Misadventure with a Magician of Manhattan
She walked into my life in Gucci sandals and Céline glasses, and showed me a glamorous, frictionless world of hotel living and Le Coucou dinners and infrared saunas and Moroccan vacations. And then she made my $62,000 disappear.

It's funny how much money some people lose before they figure out they're being conned.

When something seems too good to be true - it probably is!

This girl accepted trips, personal training, shopping sprees, etc. from a supposedly wealthy lady and then found out things were not as they seemed.

Be very careful when you don't pay your own way in life.

Yes! The con artists sure know who to pick.

Yes, but she was young and naïve. That explains a lot of it. Anna was a professional con artist.

Yes she was! And she did a good job on many people. I have never run across anyone nearly this good, but have engaged with people that have gotten their way with me enough in this lifetime. No fun at all.

I plan to talk to my kids about people like this, when they get a little older. There are lots of people out there looking for someone to take advantage of. Someone with a credit card, they don't necessarily have to have lots of money. Just credit. There are also all the internet scams, phone scams, door to door scams, MLM businesses, etc....

The only thing that seems odd about this one, to be honest.. Well, two things..

First, it wasn't a marriage/love situation. Normally that comes into play with this type of situation. Wealthy widower meets world traveling beau who runs off with all their money..

And second.. noone wound up dead.

That was a good story- I always enjoy reading about con artists for some reason.... I think it amazes me that people have the wherewithal to pull off stunts like that.
