Got sentenced to House Arrest in his shack of a $7,000,000 Manhattan Penthouse. Aww, poor baby has to be stuck in a Manhattan penthouse...I feel soo bad for him.
Seriously, how come people accused of minor crimes have to stay in a real jail while they await trial while this guy who basically stole $50,000,000,000 gets to live in luxury?
House arrest is not a punishment for someone with a penthouse in Manhattan.
The concept of bail is based upon the idea of innocence until guilt can be established, and is granted upon weighing the risks that the accused will appear at trial, which unfortunately means that the poor are often unable to satisfy the court that they will appear as demanded, due to a lack of assets that the court deems valuable enough to insure that appearance. But you knew that already.
"The investors I am speaking with are extremely upset and think he should be in jail today," said Ross Intelisano, a partner at law firm Rich & Intelisano LLP said. "They think he is a flight risk, and they are shocked that the bail is so low."
Well, one thing is for sure, this is one particular case where Israel is not in the running.
