I'm going through a messy break up with my long time girlfriend of 12 years, we have two kids and we are having problems agreeing on who gets the kids. I personally want them since I make more money and they would be better taken care of at the moment. I feel this helps her out to get herself set up and ready as opposed to struggling financially (Im expecting a comment here on child support).

I have some of my friends who are single fathers and they say if I pursue custody from the courts then I would definetly have to pay for child support in order to get that right.

Is this correct?

I love my kids and I love her also and people just grow apart from each other sometimes but I also dont want to be screwed here either. I want whats best for everyone involved.

I think you're in the wrong forum here. This is the Tucson Relocation forum.

This forum is really not intended for this question. I'd suggest that you get a consultation with a family law attorney in Tucson (first consultation would be free or low cost) about the custody and support issues. That will get you much more useful advice than posting on an internet forum.

This has to be a difficult situation for everyone, especially the children. Best of luck to you all!
