A lot of this would depend on your skill level, for years there was a Microsoft Tech Support call center in town run by a company called Convergys'(may still be here, not sure), because of this lots of low cost low-medium skill IT people in town. If you know your stuff are fully certified, I am talking MCSE and equivlant certifications not something like an A+ which are a dime a dozen there are jobs. If you have EMR experience especially EPIC there are definitly jobs available at Hospitals.

An interesting thread! I'm very much looking forward to moving to Tucson, but the job hunt is taking a lot longer than I thought. I've got almost 30 years in IT Security, a TS/SCI security clearance, plus CISSP, CEH, and CPT certifications. The door is not exactly being knocked down by recruiters and the listings online are slim. Are things in a downturn there?

To both posters looking for jobs - there are definitely jobs available for highly skilled technical people. I can say from experience that Adecco here in Tucson gets skilled people jobs. I'm talking about IT/programmers/etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the tip, I'll look into Adecco. I'm not in a giant hurry (I'm still working full time for the gov't), but it's time to retire from this gig and move into the private sector for some years. After 29 years I'm ready for a change of scenery -- Tucson is much more to my liking than here in the crowded east coast.

My wife and I bought a nice home in Vail last year, we can't wait to move down to Tucson and stay for good!

Thanks again.
