We will be moving to the Tucson area shortly. We are interested in getting our 4th grader started on a swim team. Any suggestions of great swimming programs in the Tucson or Vail area is appreciated. I realize that Tucson's a big area but if you could provide suggestions to programs that stand out, that along with our school research may steer us in the direction of where we'll want to buy a house. Work commute is not an issue... I don't want to drive across town to swim practice if we can find a few equally great ones that might suit our needs closer to home. Appreciate it!

Might want to narrow down when you say "Tucson." What works for someone at Ina/Oracle might not work for someone down on Tanque Verde.

JCC Stingrays would be an excellent start. They are formed out of the Jewish Community Center, but by no means do you have to be that religion. That is just the facility that is used for the program. They are part of the USA swimming circuit which is awesome. Kids of all ages and all skill levels will get to compete at various venues. The team building and discipline seems to be a little better on USA (USS) swimming teams. I was a competative swimmer for 8 years, most of which I swam private, then H.S. (Cannot compete on USS and Public swimming at the same time) so in the off seasons I would swim USS. Once you are 19 years old if you choose to continue swimming for whatever reason and not on the collegiate level then what you know as USA/USS swimming will become USA Masters for ages 19+. Practically the same exact thing just on a more adult level.
