I'm looking to buy a home (single family) for around 250k - 300k in NW Tucson. Where would you look? I'm interested in a home with 1600-2000 sf. The views are paramount! Please let me know of any communities you know of that might work.

You may want to check out Dove Mountain, Suaz . . .

Beautiful homes, some with spectacular views, safe and private plus convenient to I-10.

It depends on exactly where you mean by Northwest Tucson, but generally speaking there are a number of properties in your price range along Ina/Skyline and then North into the Oro Valley area along the Oracle Road corridor. The views from many of these areas can be pretty spectacular, with the mountains on one side and the sunsets to your West. If you are on the South side of the Catalinas (basically in the Catalina Foothills) you will also benefit from sunrises depending on the placement of your home.

Plugging $250-300k and 1600-200 sq. ft. into the MLS and drawing a box roughly North to Tangerine, South to River, East to Swan and West to La Cholla resulted in 36 results, so you'll have plenty of choices. Definitely check out the pics available online and see the orientation of the home to the mountains and to the sunrise/sunset views depending on your preferences and go from there.

As you narrow down the area and exactly which views you prefer, etc., update us here and I'm sure you'll get plenty of helpful advice! Good luck!

You are looking at 85750, 85718, 85704 and 85737 there.

There's plenty of other interesting areas to look at as well - 85745, for example, which is West of I-10 along the base of the Tucson Mountains also offers some interesting properties with great views and excellent proximity to city amenities.

A nice place to check is Villa Milano in the gated community of Sin Vacas. Most of the homes are above your price range but there is a home (new construction) for $337000.
