Yes, it is VERY INTERESTING to walk in the area surrounding Ronstadt Transit Center. You will have the opportunity to meet some of the most aggressive panhandlers and be solicited to buy drugs. The situation has improved a little since last summer since the Tucson PD now has officers walking through the area every 10-15 minutes and a couple of bicycle officers. It still is one of the main hubs of the drug trade.

Personally, I would rather be walking in one of the parks.

I was saying the Rondstadt Transit Center but really preferring the Club Congress, Rialto Theater, Congress Street area heading west towards the Hotel Arizona area. Tucson's downtown is not that large in square yardage. Come to think of it, of the 3 years and 8 months we lived in Willcox and played in Tucson, I don't remember ever stepping foot on Ronstadt Transit Center pavement.

I'm in the running for a position at TMC as we speak. If I don't get this gig my wife and I may not get that chance ta walk Tucson's downtown again. Where I work at this next gig will largely determine the Arizona question fully completely. The other job I'm possibly going to get an offer for is in eastern Washington. How's that for contrasting climes? Stay warm and well fed.

Wasn't there a proposal to basically encase the transit center and build shops in front of it on Congress and 6th, then build apartments above it? I'm not saying that this development will get rid of the drug/panhandling problem, unless they put a police substation in there!

^^^

My point was that YOU don't walk that area every day. I do walk it several times a week.

There a lot of people who are always promoting Tucson on this board that have not lived in the area recently.
