Well, even though I'm not down there yet, I'm as concerned as anyone about the general water situation - after all, groundwater levels WILL affect me at some point and that groundwater is recharged largely by the monsoons (specifically in my case, by the rainfall over the Whetstones), sooooo, I DO watch for the monsoons and monitor the rainfall in my area down there carefully.

OK, I guess watching your investment makes sense. Take it from me however you want - our water "situation" is just fine!

According to the news, J-6 was supposedly getting it pretty bad yesterday Ken.

And monsoon season started June 15th. Not out of the ordinary for it to start.

Yeah we did eventually get some significant rain out there yesterday - around an inch or so. The nearest Rainlog.org station (in J-6) registered 1.2 inches while the wunderground.com weather station I take my temp readings from registered .87 inches. So far the monsoons at J-6 are off to a good start - which is good because our winter there was pretty dry (unlike some other areas of Arizona).

The natural beauty is breathtaking
The variety of activities and events

But probably the one thing that has struck me most is the friendliness of the people. A few examples: walking downtown at night I was looking for the entrance to a business and someone walking by stopped and asked if he could help. Another time I asked for directions to a store while waiting at a car wash. The attendant gave me directions and I walked outside to wait while my car was being finished. A minute later the attendant walked out and gave me a hand written map to the store I asked about.

I'm from Michigan, and maybe this type of friendliness is 'normal' in Tucson, but it's a pleasant surprise to me.

I'm having a blast discovering Tucson, and am actually blogging about it. If you're interested, it's at Tucson Living

We've had some similar experiences with nice people as well. Makes the move feel a little nicer.

Hi Mi_Mom. Isn't the sunshine here GREAT?

We've come from a state with 46% average sunshine to one with 85%. Ya gotta love it!
