These are a couple of encounters I had while walking or working on landscape with Heinz. I was walking south on La Canada in the northbound lanes when my eye caught movement off to my left, and that is when I saw the javelina down in the wash about 8 to 10 feet below the level of the road. It was a brief, but interesting encounter, and I got the stink eye from the big fella. That pipe goes under all 4 lanes and comes out in the wash on the west side of La Canada. I went over there and waited to see if the javelina would come out, but after several minutes, they did not, so I guess they were just sheltering in the pipe.

Heinz and I were working on some landscape clean up at his place when he noticed the gopher snake under the grill. Of course, I got my camera out (all I had was my phone) and got some video to share. I left the snake alone for about 15 seconds and when I came back, it was nowhere to be found!

While out on a walk, I went through our friend's (Jimmy and Francine) driveway to check on their place, and as I rounded a bend, I came face to face with a young buck and his girlfriend about 20 feet away. As I got my camera out, the moved away from me a bit off of the gravel and on to an island with vegetation where they could find some cover. You see what happens next. I was really surprised that the doe was the one to step out from the cover of the vegetation and give me a once over! They were beautiful, and I consider myself lucky for the peaceful encounter. I hope you enjoy the video!!!
