We're about to enter Middle School. I am going to the Middle School Fair on January 28th. It is at Catalina Magnet High School on Wednesday January 28th from 4-7 if any of you are interested. There is also a website for pre-lim information: choicenow dot org

I guess TUSD is open enrollment (space permitting), so I'd like to see what my options are. Deadline is early February or there-a-bouts.

Please share your experience (good or bad) on Middle schools you directly know about - you have kids there or teach there, etc.

July Baby #1 is currently at Soleng Tom and I feel he is not being stimulated enough. Um, 5th grade and he comes home with mazes and word searches for homework, I kid you not.

I have other issues: he only has music twice a week and that is only because he joined band, P.E. only twice a week every other semester, no foreign language at all, no art, etc. He took Spanish in his last school for three years already. Now that we live here, it would be nice if he could continue.

I want more art, music, science, P.E., Spanish classes, and less mazes and word searches!

Advise away.

OK, where?

I'm open to that, the boys went to private school in Buffalo (because I lived in the city, there was no hesitation on my part). This school year has been my only experience with public school and I agree, I am not impressed.

Are there NO good public schools???

Since you're pretty close to Vail's boundaries (I think), perhaps you can get them in Vail?! I've heard from a co-worker about some lotteries Catalina Foothills does... Apparently they accept some children from other districts (TUSD in his case). That's for young kiddos, though. I don't know if they do the same for older ones.
