needed advice for visiting snow area (eg.Mt Lemmon) (Tucson: move to, distance)

Hi,

I've move to Tucson one year ago from other country. I have not visited any snow city or country before and planning to do so this winter. My wife didn't like to stay over night at snow area but both of us would like to experience once.

I heard that Mt Lemmon are the nearest snow area that we can visit and we can go there in the morning and come back at the evening. After some research, i found out that HWY catalina is closed during winter month. Here're some doubt we have;
1) Is there any other route to Mt Lemmon?
2) Where exactly to visit Mt Lemmon?
3) What to wear in snow area?
4) Any advisory to drive in snow area?

I am open to any suggestion to other area (Driving distance) and tips for snow area.

U take the Catalina Highway into Mt. Lemmon. Right know is a great time to go.
