I think that a Trader Joes would do really well here in tulsa. I would be pumped if we were to get costco around here.

It's funny to see the Costco locations, they are just about everywhere other than the Dakotas, a couple of the Northeast states, and the AR/OK/LA area. I wonder why they aren't in Arkansas? Heh heh.

Sunflower Market would be an EXCELLENT addition to Tulsa! We have them here in Vegas and their prices are unmatched; especially on produce and bulk products. Reminds me of Wild Oats bulk prices in Tulsa...back in the day. I would also LOVE to have another option besides Whole Foods to shop at when we visit family in Tulsa.

When we lived in Holland, Michigan we heard the reasons (excuses) from Trader Joes as to why they couldn't come into the Grand Rapids area. We were told we were too far outside of their distribution in Grand Rapids to get a store. My understanding was that they had a distribution center for BOTH Aldi and Trader Joes in Chicago. We had Aldi stores, but not Trader Joes. Something tells me they had OTHER reasons.

I would also love to see a Costco in Tulsa. I've wondered what has kept them away. They're in many markets where you'll also find a Sam's or BJ's.

There is a Whole Foods Store on 41st street, just east of South Peoria.

I think Wal-Mart has been so entrenched here for so long that the Costco people probably figure it isn't worth doing. As I mentioned earlier, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana are about the largest area without a Costco, and the main thing in common there is Wal-Mart has been in all three places a long time.

The only other areas where Costco hasn't gone are either really low population areas or some of the Northeastern states where it isn't too far to get to a store in a neighboring state.

We have a Sam's Club here [Central CA] but they only do a small percentage of the business here that Costco does. I think probably were Costco to try to enter the market here it would a similar situation, just reversed.

Costco wants to come to Oklahoma and would open 6-10 stores here, but they want our dumb liquor laws changed first.

I should have remembered, that is usually the reason a lot of these stores won't move to Oklahoma.

Too bad, because Costco actually pays their employees a living wage.

I don't think that would be the best location but at least we can have a 2nd store.

What's so great about Trader Joe's anyway? Is it an organics store? Will it compete with Whole foods for 'clean' food?
What's the reason so many people like Trader Joe's? Just trying to learn about them ....never visited one. But the Whole Foods store in Downtown Washington D.C. is a KILLER Store!!!!!!!!!
