Get some Deep Woods Off. It does a great job keeping the creepy crawlys off. You need to watch out for ticks because some of them carry the Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick Fever.
Chiggers, you can see if you look really closely. They are tiny very small red specks. They aren't dangerous, just a nuisance. They itch for a few days and then they are gone.
I've lived with them all my life and once you know what to do, its not a problem.

Thanks.

If you have a dog or cat that you apply Frontline or Advantage (the kind for ticks not just for fleas) on you will not have any more ticks in your yard after a few months. Keeping the lawn well mowed, not easy when it just keeps raining, will cut down on the chiggers. Sevin dust works too.

Default ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

This thread made me nearly pass my yogurt through my nose....lol. Nice pics, too! Dang chiggars LOOK fierce, too! ha-ha-ha....

I think everybody in my family has about 8 millions ticks and chiggars stories. It's part of the fun. lol. You're supposed to eat frog legs, catfish, or squirrel or somesuch similar item whilst telling the stories, too...FYI.

Mostly you run into these pesky critters if you live outside of the city, I would think. Never spent any time right in Tulsa, though. My family all live outside of town, and just does what everyone else has already suggested. If you have to walk around in tall grass for some reason, do it fully clothed and use your Off.

My parents live in Tulsa and when I went in their backyard during late summer, I got eaten up by chiggers. They keep their yard mowed all the time. Back when we lived in the countryside, we had chickens that we let roam all over. They were the best method we ever had of eliminating ticks and chiggers. Never got a chigger bite when we had those chickens. Hate hate hate chiggers.

not too much of a problem with ticks or anything i've lived here all my life and only have gotten a tick like once or twice.

now, tarantulas in the hot summers are an issue. i have actually had to pick my dog up and walk around one on the sidewalk. but we live in a new housing addition in the middle of a big field, never saw them in the established neighborhood we used to live in. don't see them too often though. didn't start seeing them until about two years ago and they seemed to be everywhere. kinda creepy but not too big a deal.

coyotes or something sometimes run the streets at night and we had a wild pet turkey that would stand in our driveway for days on end and never move, and this was in broken arrow. it would squak at us sometimes.

and then there's the owl we had on our porch last summer that made a home there.

but ticks and things like that? nahhh....but the copperheads are fun to cut in half. :-)
