(Netflix)........has the potential to pull people away from existing revenue streams, such as DVD, video on demand and, in the case of Showtime and Starz, premium subscription television.
At least we know the motive!

I subscribe to Netflix and will continue to do so....even if I have to wait longer for shows from certain cable networks. I really don't care if I watch episodes from last year....to me they are new when I watch them. I can see where some people may feel put off by it.

It is within cable TV's right to do what they want for the shows they produce. But what they need to keep in mind, is that the internet is really changing everything. Maybe instead of defending their territory, they should jump on board with a site of their own at a nominal fee per movie, episode or monthly. If the cable companies don't realize their gouging days are over and make changes.....they will become as obsolete as long distance rates, land lines and newspaper subscriptions.

Thanks for posting the article. It was interesting.

With bad news also comes good news. Netflix and Miramax just struck a $100 million deal to stream their movies.

Beginning next month, Netflix will have access to several hundred Miramax movies, with dozens of titles being added on a rotating basis, the companies said.
I'll use this as my excuse to party Friday night!!

Exactly. If they want to keep these episodes unavailable for that long, people like myself will simply take to the internet and download the torrents and then no one gets paid. Not exactly a smart business model.

Right....because anything I find on Netflix I can find free on quite a few other sites (legal or not). I use Netflix because it is supplies a good quality, reliable service and is cheap.

I thought Google/You Tube was going to itemize all the shows and movies they have....but I've yet to see it come to fruition properly. I suspect they have a great many movies/shows on there that are hidden due to breaking copy-write laws.

I don't mind paying a fee though. It isn't fair to just steal the movie for free.....unless I really want to watch it.

I've been a little disappointing with Netflix streaming already. A lot of old TV isn't available.

I don't complain about my taxes, or my utilities, and not even gas much. But my cable bill is extrodinary. I pay a ton, then pay more for MOD. And there isn't a consistent amount of current TV on demand much less old TV on demand. So I find this upsetting.

Your post made me think of something I thought I'd share.

I was getting a little disappointed with Netflix's variety of streaming titles, so one night I got on the website hoping to see if there were more titles I could just watch from my computer. I ended up finding SO many more titles in every genre that I was able to put into my queue, then log in to my Netflix on the X-box and there they were! I had no idea you could find more titles online and send it to your TV, but you can!

Was I the only one who didn't know this?

Netflix pulls Sony movies

Sony movies have been pulled from Netflix Inc.'s online streaming service because of what Netflix says is a "temporary contract issue" between Sony Corp. and its pay TV distributor, Starz.

Netflix notified its members in a blog post Friday, when movies such as "Easy A" and "Grown Ups" stopped being available on its "Watch Instantly" service. They are still available to be rented as DVDs through the mail.

Starz said in a statement that "all parties are working diligently to resolve the issue."
