All the cable stations are doing this. Discovery had spawned a its own little bunch of channels. The only one I really want to watch is Science, but won't pay that much more to get it. I like History International and the Military channel. I watch them a lot when Dish gives us one as a free monthly bonus channel. I fill up the DVR with stuff to watch over time until they give us something else interesting.
Lately I've been watching PBS more than anything for my brain candy.
So you're saying the fact that I like to watch Pawn Stars (which is always seems to teach me something I didn't know) makes me an idiot?
That's real classy pal... Maybe they should have a "Vocabulary Channel" so people like you can learn words like generalizations and stereotyping.
I'm the first to admit that there are certain lowbrow or downright mindless entertainment choices that I make and enjoy.
However, why is a show like Pawn Stars on a channel named "History"? I think that is what many of us are griping about. It has next to nothing to do with History.
One would have to be in complete denial to not see how dumbed down many of these shows and channels have become.
Yes. H2, formerly History International, and Military Channel now carry the type of progamming that used to be on History Channel. Same happened to A&E channel years ago.
New CEO who took over a few years ago, a woman in fact, was determined to change the image from old men watching WW2 stuff.

As if that is the only history that exists! Ay yi yi. If they wanted to make history more accessible to the masses I can think of many different ways to do that without resorting to reality tv.
Can anyone remember when the last time they saw music videos on MTV, VH1 or even CMT? It seems that TCM & LMN are [so far] the only channels that have remained to it's original programming of movies 24/7
