I watched for the first time simply because a family member of a good friend was on - and Won his apron - Rooting for Jordan (and I cried when he talked about his mom, she was a wonderful, beautiful lady, taken way too soon)
I don't remember which one was Jordan. I really liked the young blonde woman from Georgia. She's the one who fileted the fish. The only person who got on my nerves was the braggart brunette mom in the short skirt who kept calling herself beautiful. I found her obnoxious.

Thank you for saying this. I thought I was the only one. I feel curmudgeonly but really isn't this a cooking show, so why all this proposal and back story stuff.
Everyone has sad and difficult things that happen in our lives. It shouldn't be about whose sob story makes me turn to mush more.
In that regard, I like Joe the best b/c he's sticking to judging the food. I wish he'd stop w/ the glowering though. It's creepy b/c his eyes look like giant marbles when he does that.
I watched the Australian version a couple of yrs ago, and was impressed by how much more professional it was. None of this cheesy schmaltzy stuff as on the U.S. version, and the contestants were nicer toward each other unlike the immature jerks we've seen on our version.
Thanks another_hot_day - iluvcatnip: Jordan was the one who wore his mothers' apron and made the dish w/his secret recipe sauce dots on the side (green) - they all loved it and wanted their own plates
Jordan did seem like a nice guy so I'll root for him. Overall I like most of the folks I've seen, besides the 'I'm beautiful' women. I mean really?! She's not exactly beautiful, cute but whatever. So hopefully not too many egomaniacs.

Oh yes, I see now. He did seem like a really nice guy, and his dish looked good too. I liked him, and the blonde girl.
Although I get peeved w/ the constant sob stories, at least this season they're mixing it up a bit b/c the young Korean girl didn't get through, nor did the one who made those "cupid cookies" despite them bringing out 12 people in the family. What the heck was the point of all that!?
The producers of this show really annoy me. I feel the same way about American's Got Talent. Enough w/ the silly background stuff! I swear I watched Masterchef is about 1/3 the time b/c of all the fast-forwarding I had to do.
I can't wait for the cooking to begin. FWIW, it does improve after the audition phase. Thank God for small mercies, eh.
